With winter weather upon us, now is your last chance to go over your November HVAC maintenance checklist to ensure you have everything taken care of before the freezing weather hits. The last thing you want is for your HVAC system to fail during an intense winter storm. If it does, you can also call Nytech Heating & Cooling for emergency HVAC repair. Here are a few things you need to check off before November ends!
Check Your Landscaping
Before the end of November, you should go outside and clear any vegetation around your HVAC System. Cut back branches of trees and shrubs in the area. Unruly shrubbery can damage your system and cause a complete breakdown of your heat pump unit.
Be Safe Indoors
Check the safety of your unit by moving any combustible items away from your indoor heating system. Check the batteries in your carbon monoxide detector and check to make sure it is working correctly. Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the most common fatalities from heating devices and can be easily prevented with a functioning carbon monoxide detector.
Replace Your Air Filter
Take a look at your air filter. If you have not replaced your air filter lately, it is now a great time to mark on your calendar. A new filter will reduce indoor air contaminates and increase energy efficiency of your system.
Check Your Water Panel
Check and change the water panel in your home’s humidifier as part of your HVAC maintenance. This will ensure your humidifier is working optimally throughout the winter. A properly functioning water panel will help prevent dry skin, chapped lips, and other consequences of dry air.
